reflections on the A to Z challenge

Many thanks to Arlee Bird at Tossing it Out and several others for hosting the A-Z Blogging Challenge in April!  Also, thank you Elizabeth Mueller for making us a great award - we made it to Z - woo hoo!  Participants have been asked to reflect on their experiences with the challenge and link their posts with others on Bird's and Mueller's websites (and probably others).  There are quite a few people who participated; visit the sites to see a variety of blogs!  This was my first group blogging activity, and I had a lot of fun.  My participation didn't go quite as planned - I started late, then I was without my computer for a week - so I had two posts with chunks of letters along with a few posts featuring one letter (which was the intent of the challenge).  However, since I'd already learned that if you want to make God laugh, make plans, I adjusted well.  :)  (Okay, I threw a hissy fit when my computer took so long to fix, but let's move on.)  I loved the prompts the letters gave to write something new.  I grew creatively with this challenge.  I loved reading how others dealt so differently and creatively with the same letters.  I also enjoyed the community feel of the challege as we all strove to write something fresh, visited each other's sites, and wondered what the heck begins with X besides x-ray and xylophone.  And I really appreciate the visits of Arlee and other hosts to our sites and the comments they shared.  Thanks again to all of the people who made this work; I can't wait to see what's next!

  1. Congrats on finishing the challenge. Computers are annoying when they get in the way, I understand :)

Making plans is among the best pieces of advice I ever received and the best reminder when blogging this way. I wish I did that more during the challenge, but hey, it was my first time so I'm just glad that made it through and that many others made it through, plans or no plans, lol.

You want to know what begins with X besides x-ray and xylophone, huh? I'll tell you....x-rated and something called xenophobia which is the fear of things foreign or something. Lots of participants in the challenge wrote about the latter (xenophobia) while I wrote about the former (x-rated) since I could tie it to the subject of my blog.

    It was fun.

Arlee deserves a mega vacation, complete with Spa treatments, beach fronts and massages for organizing such an event!

  2. Conrats on finishing the challenge! I saw other bloggers doing it, but was too chicken to try it myself. (oops) Maybe someday soon I'll try something like it - they come around pretty often!

  3. YAY for finishing. It was challenging. Sorry about the computer problems. I certainly would have thrown a fit!

Our community is great and it's the best place for support and advise.

  4. If you're going to do a group blog effort for the first time, you might as well go with one of the best and that's what I think of A to Z. It's a great opportunity for all bloggers, veterans or new. Good for you for surmounting the difficulties that you faced--all part of the Challenge.
Thank you for Blogging from A to Z with us in 2011 and now you can look forward to 2012.

Don't forget to pick up your Winner's Badge at my site.

  5. Congrats on finishing, despite those pesky, unplanned events. Love your reminder about God and plans...that's the story of my life! Good thing God's driving, I usually fall asleep at the wheel ;-) This might interest you: Shannon @ The Warrior Muse and I are joining forces in another challenge. We're going to visit and comment at each of the participants, starting with the reflections post. We hope you'll join us!
